Hi all,
I was going to post this in the Geilo Norge, Brusletto thread, but I didn't want it to be lost in the clutter, so to speak.
If I remember what I've read correctly, Harry Morseth bought the blades from Brusletto, ground off the stainless steel laminate, and finished and put handles on them. The knives are legendary.
Morseth Knife
This is a real nice one! It will be fun to watch what it goes for.
Notice the profile of the blade. Very similar to your Brusletto, Rich, and similar to the one that I have, that is made by Oyo.
So Rich, this is a case where the maker of the blade ISN'T credited with making the knife. It isn't a Brusletto, it is a Morseth.
Just wanted to pass this one along.
Best,
Wendell
Maybe someday your rehandled pieces wil be known as Steins'.

Wendell -

Yes, Morseth did have his blades made by
Brusletto. Ragnar still has a few for sale.
Check about half way down the page.

Get one and make a knife. Then we'll have
a Brusletto/Morseth/Wendell knife :-)

Someday my handled / rehandled pieces will be known as junk :-)

I doubt that seriously. What I've seen of your work is very far removed from the junk category.

Just so we are Very Clear on this----------

The Busletto Blades being offered by Ragner are NOT blades that were made for Harry Morseth.

Ragnar has been misinformed.

I have examined one and so has A.G. Russell.

That is a very nice Old Brusletto Blade--It was NOT One made for Harry Morseth.

Regardless of that fact--they are well worth the money

If they had been authentic --Made For Harry Morseth Blades--There would be None for Sale==A.G. and I would have Immediately Bought them All and Built them as Real Morseths--A.G. Owns the Name Morseth. I am one of the Companies that Builds Custom Projects for A.G.

The knife that Wendall Shows on E-bay is a Real Morseth.

Thanks,

Mike......................

Okay Mike, what is it about these blades that makes you feel they were not made for Morseth?

Wrong Thickness, Wrong Shape.

Not a Morseth.

Great Blade but not a Morseth.

Could these have been blanked, but never finished for delivery to Morseth?

I'm wondering because according to Levine's Guide (second edition), Morseth got blade blanks from Brusletto. The blade that Ragnar is selling has a very strong resemblance to the Morseth utility knife.

A.G. And I thought the Same.

It is very True that Harry had his blades made by Brusletto..

These are just not the ones that Harry had made for himself.

As I said above--If they were--We would have bought all of them from Ragnar and they would have been already Built and in A.G.'s Catalog.

Is there some reason why you think I would make this Up?

I said above that they are great blades and well worth the money.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's Parade here.

I just think we should all be on the same page.

I'm not saying that you're making it up. I'm saying that I can see a very strong resemblance between this blade and Harry Morseth's utility model. In fact, the Brusletto Bamse looks very much like Morseth's knife.

I'm assuming that Ragnar got his information from Brusletto. I believe that Brusletto has more knowledge of what they have made than any of us do.

Regardless of who, what, when, where, or why, Brusletto makes an outstanding blade.
